Between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., according to prior agreement with the passenger, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head directly to the base of these peaks. There, we’ll begin a trekking route divided into three stages. The hike, which covers approximately 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) and lasts about 3 hours, will take us along various moderately difficult trails. Along the way, we’ll admire the reddish, ochre, brown, and yellow tones of the Suriplaza mountains, created by the natural oxidation of metals.
In the first stage, we’ll ascend to an altitude of 5,295 meters (17,372 feet), with an elevation gain of 260 meters (853 feet).
This route offers one of the less complex challenges on the Altiplano. The trek takes approximately 4 hours to complete, requiring a brisk pace and coping with variable terrain conditions. Therefore, it’s essential to be well acclimated to prevent altitude sickness.
We’ll take a break halfway through the route to enjoy a snack. After recharging, we’ll gradually descend through the “Rainbow Mountains” of Suriplaza, taking time to appreciate the intricate details and vibrant tones of their multicolored landscapes.
Finally, we’ll return to the starting point and from there drive back to Putre. Arrival at your hotel is expected between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.
