At 8:00 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head toward the Lauca National Park. There, at an altitude of 4,350 meters (14,270 feet), you’ll find the spectacular Cotacotani Lagoons, located on the lava fields of the Parinacota Volcano.

We’ll begin the trekking route from the lagoons viewpoint, where we’ll take in the beauty of this stunning area of the Chilean Altiplano. Its vast landscapes stretch all the way to the nearby border with Bolivia, in a setting that serves as a natural habitat for many alpacas and vicuñas.

As we explore the area around the Cotacotani Lagoons, we’ll enjoy views of the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes. These towering peaks, each rising above 6,000 meters (nearly 20,000 feet), form one of the most iconic landscapes in Lauca National Park. Another highlight of this protected area is the Cotacotani region itself, where we’ll also stop to take in its stunning natural scenery.

We’ll stop by the shore of the lagoons to enjoy a snack along the way. After recharging, we’ll continue exploring the captivating landscapes surrounding the Cotacotani Lagoons.

We’ll conclude the trekking route—a distance of 9 to 10 kilometers (5.5 to 6.2 miles)—back at the starting point after approximately 5 to 6 hours. From there, we’ll return to your hotel in Putre, with an estimated arrival between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.

Includes: Shared transportation, first aid kit, Spanish-speaking driver-guide, and en-route snack. Small group tour with a minimum of 2 passengers.

Not Included: English-speaking guide, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks or juices, cold or hot water.
