We will pick you up from your hotel in Putre at 8:00 a.m. and head toward Parinacota. Just outside this Andean village lies the sacred mountain Guane-Guane, one of the most prominent peaks of the Chilean Altiplano.
We’ll stop at the base of this mountain, where we’ll begin our trekking route. The hike, which is of moderate difficulty and lasts approximately 5 to 7 hours, involves an ascent of 570 meters (1,870 feet) over a distance of 5.6 kilometers (3.5 miles). It offers beautiful natural landscapes throughout the Parinacota Province. The summit of the mountain lies at an altitude of 5,100 meters (16,732 feet), and as we climb, the views become increasingly spectacular.
This route presents a moderate to high level of difficulty, suitable for adventurers in good physical condition with some mountain trekking experience.
From the summit of Guane Guane, we’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Lauca National Park. We’ll also take in the sight of Lake Chungará, the Pallachatas (Parinacota and Pomerape Volcanoes), and the Cotacotani lagoons, stretching as far as the eye can see.
We’ll recharge halfway through the route with a snack. Then, we’ll begin the descent along the slopes of Guane-Guane Hill back to the starting point of the trail. Finally, we’ll return to your hotel in Putre, with an estimated arrival between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
