At 8:00 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head toward Cerro Petacane, located just 5 kilometers away.
As soon as we arrive at the base of the mountain, located in a beautiful area of the Andean foothills, we will begin a trekking route along the slope of this majestic peak in the Chilean Altiplano. The hike, which is of moderate difficulty, will take approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on the pace of the group.
As we gradually ascend the slope of the mountain, we’ll enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Lluscuma Pampa. We will reach a maximum altitude of 3,460 meters. All the effort will be well worth it, as the views from this height are truly breathtaking.
This trek offers a moderate-level experience, suitable for those with a basic level of physical fitness and who are accustomed to outdoor activities. With an approximate duration of 4 hours, the activity is compact enough to be completed within a day without requiring an extensive time commitment.
At the top of the hill, we’ll also see the Petacane cross, which dates back to the colonial period. Did you know that this crucifix is used in various Andean ceremonies? After learning about the origins of these traditional celebrations, we’ll take a break to enjoy a picnic, which includes sandwiches, nuts, chocolate, and natural juices.
With our energy restored, we’ll begin the descent back to the starting point. From there, we’ll return to your hotel in Putre, with an estimated arrival time between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
