At 8:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head to Cerro Calvario, located in the Andean foothills of the Chilean Altiplano.

From the base of the hill, we will begin a medium to high difficulty trekking route, which, depending on the group’s pace, will take between three and four hours. We will ascend in stages toward the summit, located at an altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet). Every effort will be worth it, as the panoramic views of Putre from the top are truly breathtaking.

At the summit of the hill, we’ll also see a large cross—did you know it’s the biggest one in Putre? This crucifix, which dates back to colonial times, holds deep significance in traditional Andean ceremonies and various festivities such as the Festival of the Cross of May. We’ll tell you all about this popular celebration!

This route presents a moderate level of difficulty, making it suitable for individuals with reasonable physical fitness and some experience in outdoor activities. The trek is designed to be challenging yet accessible, offering a rewarding experience without being overly demanding.

Duration: The estimated time to complete the trek is approximately 4 hours. This includes the full route as well as possible breaks to rest and enjoy the scenery.

Altitude: The maximum altitude reached will be 4,000 meters (13,123 feet) above sea level. At this elevation, it's important to be prepared for the effects of high altitude, such as reduced oxygen levels.

We’ll take a break at the summit of Cerro Calvario to enjoy a picnic that includes sandwiches, nuts, chocolate, and natural juices. After recharging our energy, we’ll begin the descent, gradually making our way down the mountainside.

The route will end at the starting point of the trail. From there, we will return to your hotel in Putre, with an estimated arrival between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Includes: Shared transportation, first aid kit, Spanish-speaking driver-guide, and en-route snack. If you require a private tour or an English-speaking guide, pricing can be arranged. There is plenty of time to plan your visit. These are small group tours with a minimum of 2 passengers.

Not Included: English-speaking guide, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks or juices, cold and hot water.
