Mount Taapaca, located in northern Chile, is a natural gem that captivates adventure seekers and geology enthusiasts alike. It belongs to the Larancagua mountain range and rises majestically in the Andes toward the west. It offers a unique experience for both experienced climbers and those seeking a closer connection with the mountain.
Full Day: Putre – Cumbre Volcán Taapaca
Nos trasladaremos desde Putre en vehículo hasta los faldeos del Volcán, donde se iniciara la caminata.
La dificultad del trekking será de media/ alta, con un trayecto total de 8 kilómetros, que durará entre 6 a 7 horas. El recorrido presenta un desnivel de 700 metros al comienzo y luego tiene un desnivel de 560 metros. A medida que vayas ganando altitud, serás recompensado con panorámicas espectaculares de la Cordillera de los Andes, el pueblo de Putre y la comuna de General Lagos. Llegarás a la cumbre a los 5.860 m.s.n.m.

Activity Requirements
- Be 18 years old or older.
- Participants must complete and sign a Risk Assumption form required by the company, as well as a medical form that we request before the start of the activity.
- Participants must be in good health appropriate for the activity, which involves hiking and mountain trekking carrying a backpack weighing 12 to 17 kg (26 to 37 lbs) over rugged terrain, slopes, and elevation changes.
ASSUMED RISKS
All outdoor activities carry inherent risks related to the environment and the activity itself; however, due to the characteristics of the location and what we will be doing, the following points should be taken into consideration:
- We will be in a remote environment, meaning medical assistance will be more than two hours away by vehicle from our location.
- Along the route, there is a possibility of falling rocks in the event of an earthquake. The camp will be located in a safe area away from this risk. Evacuation routes are accessible since we will be close to the road.
- Because we will be at altitudes between 3,500 meters (11,483 feet) and 5,860 meters (19,213 feet) above sea level, we will be exposed to the risk of altitude sickness.
- Being an arid area with little vegetation, the risk of fire is very low.
- Other risks, such as heat stroke, may occur if necessary precautions are not taken.

Additional Information
A WhatsApp group will be created for any questions, aiming to have an additional channel for logistics coordination.
The online meeting aims to kick off the expedition, organize the activity’s logistics, and address any questions. This meeting will be held via ZOOM or Google Meet and will last approximately one hour. The date may be changed by group decision. Final meeting times and links will be shared and agreed upon through WhatsApp.
