Discover the majesty of the Chilean Altiplano with a tour designed to offer you a complete experience of exploration, adventure, and culture. Day 1
At 8:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Putre to visit the Taapaca Volcano Viewpoint. From this elevated spot, you will enjoy spectacular views of the impressive volcano and the surrounding landscape. The Taapaca Volcano, with its majestic presence, dominates the horizon and offers a unique opportunity to admire the natural beauty of the Altiplano. We will then head to the Colpitas area, a picturesque Andean village where you can observe alpacas in their natural environment. Next, we will embark on a guided trek through Suriplaza, where a local guide will lead you along the trails of this naturally beautiful area, known as Chile’s “Rainbow Mountain.” Our journey continues to Cosapilla, a charming village in the Altiplano that offers panoramic views and a peaceful atmosphere. Your tour concludes in Caquena or Parinacota, where you will stay in a local or rural guesthouse. Experience the warmth of Andean hospitality in a cozy and authentic setting, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Altiplano.
Day 2
At 8:00 am, we continue the adventure with a guided trek around the majestic Cotacotani Lagoons. These high-altitude lagoons offer an impressive landscape of crystal-clear waters surrounded by towering mountains. Your local guide will lead you along the trails around the lagoons, providing information about the geography, flora, and fauna of the region. After the trek, we visit Lake Chungará, one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in the area. Located near the border with Bolivia, it is known as the highest lake in the world. Here, you can relax and take in the scenery, including stunning views of Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes. Next, we continue your journey to the Chirigualla Hot Springs, where you can unwind in the natural thermal waters. These hot springs are famous for their therapeutic properties and offer a relaxing experience in a breathtaking natural setting. End your day in Chivatambo or Lauca Cruzani, where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rural life of the Chilean Altiplano. In Chivatambo, you will experience the charqui process, a traditional method of meat preservation used by generations in the region. Alternatively, in Lauca Cruzani, you will stay in a local or rural guesthouse. Here, you will enjoy an authentic setting that allows you to experience Andean hospitality in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Day 3
At 8:00 am, we continue to the Vicuñas Reserve, a protected area that is home to one of the most emblematic species of Andean wildlife. Observe the vicuñas in their natural habitat—an impressive setting of high plains and mountains. The reserve offers a unique opportunity to appreciate these elegant creatures and learn about their role in the Andean ecosystem.
Your adventure will take you to the impressive Salar de Surire, a vast high-altitude salt flat. Within the salar, you will visit Chinchillani and Chilcaya, two villages offering spectacular views and a deeper understanding of life in this arid region.

End your tour in Nama, where you will experience authentic rural hospitality. In Nama, you will stay at a local guesthouse that allows you to immerse yourself in the traditional life of the Altiplano. Enjoy the warmth of Andean hospitality and the genuine atmosphere, offering you a deep connection with the local culture and way of life.
Day 4
At 8:00 a.m., we’ll visit Laguna Roja, known for its vibrant red hues that stand out against the dry highland landscape. The lagoon, surrounded by mountains and salt flats, offers an impressive visual spectacle and great photo opportunities. Next, we’ll head to Rainbow Waterfall, a natural wonder where the water cascades in bright colors, creating a rainbow over the scenery. The waterfall is accessible through a local guided tour, which will give you valuable insights into the geography and history of the area as you explore this fascinating spot. Then, we continue to Enquelga, a charming Andean village where you can experience local life in a truly authentic setting. After that, we visit Isluga, a place rich in cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, featuring its colonial church and beautiful natural surroundings. Your journey will take us to Ancovinto, where you’ll explore the Coipasa Salt Flat, a vast salt plain offering dazzling views of salt and mountains. In this area, you’ll also see giant cacti—impressive plant formations that add a dramatic touch to the arid landscape. We’ll finish the tour in Cariquima, a small, picturesque Andean village.
Day 5
We continue to the Puchuldiza Geyser, a fascinating geothermal area located in the Altiplano. Watch the geysers erupting, sending columns of steam and hot water into the air, creating an impressive natural spectacle. Visiting the geyser will allow you to appreciate the geothermal activity and the surreal landscape surrounding the area. Next, we head to the Quebrada de Tarapacá, an impressive geological formation offering panoramic views and dramatic desert scenery. The ravine is famous for its rock formations and vibrant colors, providing a spectacular backdrop for photography and exploration. We then proceed to Cerro Unitas, known as the Giant of Tarapacá. This stone colossus, sculpted by nature over millennia, rises majestically on the horizon. Our next stop is Huara, a small and picturesque town with a rich cultural heritage. Known for its peaceful atmosphere and authentic vibe, Huara is an excellent place to relax and explore local traditions. We visit Humberstone, a former saltpeter mining town now turned open-air museum. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a deep insight into the history of Chile’s saltpeter industry. We finish your tour in the vibrant coastal city of Iquique. With its unique blend of beaches, urban life, and historic architecture, Iquique offers a refreshing contrast to the desert landscapes you’ve explored. Enjoy its beaches, nightlife, and cultural attractions before concluding your adventure.

If you need a private trip or an English-speaking guide, the price can be negotiated. There is plenty of time to plan your visit. Groups are small, with a minimum of 2 passengers to start.
