Between 8:00 and 9:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Putre for an exciting adventure through the spectacular landscapes of the Arica and Parinacota region. This tour will take you across the stunning Andean high plateau, exploring crystal-clear lagoons, towering volcanoes, and relaxing hot springs, all while enjoying the comfort of stays in cozy lodges.

Day 1

Begin your journey in Putre, a picturesque Andean village that serves as the gateway to the Chilean Altiplano. Here, you’ll get acquainted with the local culture and prepare for the fascinating adventure ahead. Next, we head to Las Cuevas for an exciting trek. This hike will take you through a dramatic landscape of rock formations and panoramic views, offering a full immersion in the region’s natural beauty. From the Chucuyo Viewpoint, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the vast Andean plains and the majestic volcanoes rising on the horizon. We continue to the charming village of Parinacota, known for its colonial architecture and rustic charm. Then, we visit the stunning Cotacotani Lagoons, a system of lagoons located at the foot of the Parinacota Volcano. Our journey continues to Lake Chungará, one of the highest lakes in the world. Its waters reflect the majestic peaks of the Andes, creating spectacular views that will leave you breathless. Afterward, relax at the Chirigualla Hot Springs, an oasis of thermal waters amid the Andean landscape. Finally, you will stay at one of the cozy local lodges, such as Chivatambo, Chua, or Lauca Cruzani..

 

Day 2

At 8:00 AM, your adventure begins at the Vicuña Reserve, a natural sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of these elegant Andean camelids. Here, you can observe vicuñas up close in their natural habitat and appreciate the conservation efforts that protect this iconic species. Next, we will head to the Lauca River, a vital water source in the high plateau. Enjoy the peaceful scenery along this river as it winds through the desert, offering panoramic views of the local flora and fauna. Our next stop is the impressive Surire Salt Flat, a vast salt flat dotted with colorful lakes and geological formations. We will explore fascinating areas such as Chinchillani and Chilcaya, where you can admire the salt formations and rich birdlife, including flamingos that frequent the lagoons. After exploring the salt flat, we invite you to relax at the Polloquere Hot Springs, a thermal oasis in the middle of the arid salt flat landscape. Enjoy a soothing soak while surrounded by the natural beauty of the high plateau. We will continue our journey to Guallatire, a picturesque Andean village known for its proximity to stunning geological formations and volcanoes. This is an excellent place to appreciate local architecture and the authentic atmosphere of the high plateau. Finally, we will head to Socoroma, where you will stay at a cozy rural lodge. Here, you’ll experience local hospitality in an authentic setting, with the opportunity to learn more about rural life on the Chilean high plateau.

 

Day 3

At 8:00 AM, we will head to the historic Inca Trail. This ancient Incan path offers a fascinating insight into the routes used by the Incas to connect their vast territories. Explore the stunning views and learn about the historical significance of these roads. Next, we will continue to Zapahuira, where we will visit the ruins of Tambo and Colcas. These ancient archaeological sites include structures used for food storage and as resting places for travelers. Immerse yourself in the history of these buildings and their role in the life of ancient Andean civilizations. Our next destination is the Pucará de Copaquilla, a pre-Incan fortress that offers panoramic views of the surroundings. Explore the ruins of this ancient fortress and learn about the defensive strategies and social organization of its inhabitants. Then, we will head to the Lluta Wetland, an ecological oasis in the middle of the desert. This habitat is crucial for various species of migratory birds and offers a fascinating contrast to the surrounding arid landscape. Enjoy the natural beauty and observe wildlife in this unique environment. We will conclude our tour in Arica. Take advantage of the remaining time to relax and reflect on the richness of the experiences you’ve had throughout the day.
