Itinerary
Day 1
At 8:00 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel in Arica. Our first stop is the Lluta Wetland, a key ecosystem in the region that provides a refuge for various bird species and wildlife. Here, we will explore the wetland trails and enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings while observing wildlife in its natural habitat. Next, we will visit the Colón 10 Museum, a local museum in Arica that houses a valuable collection of historical and cultural artifacts. The museum offers deep insight into the region’s history and culture, with exhibits ranging from the pre-Columbian era to recent history. We will continue to Caleta Víctor, a picturesque fishing cove where you can experience traditional coastal life. Our next stop is Caleta Camarones, famous for its Chinchorro mummies, one of the oldest cultures in the region. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about the impressive mummification techniques used by the Chinchorro and explore archaeological remains that have been preserved for millennia. Finally, we will head to Codpa, a charming valley located in the desert. Codpa is known for its spectacular landscapes and local culture, offering an authentic experience in the heart of the high plateau. Here, we will enjoy the tranquility of the valley and the hospitality of the locals.
Day 2
Our first stop is Guañacagua, a small and charming village located in the heart of the high plateau. Here, we will experience the tranquility of rural Andean life and immerse ourselves in the local culture, observing the natural surroundings and traditional practices. We will continue to Chitita, an area known for its impressive landscape and cultural value. In Chitita, we will explore the unique features of the landscape, including rock formations and panoramic views of the Andean environment. We will then head to Cerro Blanco, a prominent elevation that offers spectacular views of the surroundings. This hill is famous for its distinctive white color, caused by the salts and minerals that cover it. Next, we will visit Timar, a picturesque village known for its natural beauty and history. Our route will take us to Presencias Tutelares, an archaeological and cultural site that features geoglyphs and rock figures reflecting the ancestral heritage of the region. Finally, we will head back to Arica, our departure city.
Includes: Shared transportation, first aid, Spanish-speaking driver-guide. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and accommodations. If you need a private trip or an English-speaking guide, the price can be negotiated. There is plenty of time to plan your visit. Small groups with a minimum of 2 passengers to start.
