At 8:00 a.m., we\u2019ll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head toward the Lauca National Park. There, at an altitude of 4,350 meters (14,270 feet), you\u2019ll find the spectacular Cotacotani Lagoons, located on the lava fields of the Parinacota Volcano.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll begin the trekking route from the lagoons viewpoint, where we\u2019ll take in the beauty of this stunning area of the Chilean Altiplano. Its vast landscapes stretch all the way to the nearby border with Bolivia, in a setting that serves as a natural habitat for many alpacas and vicu\u00f1as.<\/p>\n
As we explore the area around the Cotacotani Lagoons, we\u2019ll enjoy views of the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes. These towering peaks, each rising above 6,000 meters (nearly 20,000 feet), form one of the most iconic landscapes in Lauca National Park. Another highlight of this protected area is the Cotacotani region itself, where we\u2019ll also stop to take in its stunning natural scenery.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll stop by the shore of the lagoons to enjoy a snack along the way. After recharging, we\u2019ll continue exploring the captivating landscapes surrounding the Cotacotani Lagoons.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll conclude the trekking route\u2014a distance of 9 to 10 kilometers (5.5 to 6.2 miles)\u2014back at the starting point after approximately 5 to 6 hours. From there, we\u2019ll return to your hotel in Putre, with an estimated arrival between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
